A team from the Swiss-Ghana Intellectual Property (IP) Project paid a courtesy call on Professor John Gyapong, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Science, Ho.

Among the issues discussed was the need for the University to build capacity in order to be able to host a Technology Innovation Support Centre.

Mr. Samuel Anum, the Local Project Coordinator, giving a brief history of the project, stated that the project started as far back as 2009 and has since been assisting institutions to develop their intellectual property capacity.

On his part, the Vice Chancellor, Professor John Gyapong was excited about the project as he believes it will immensely assist the UHAS Institutional Repository Centre and also the activities of the newly created UHAS Research Institute.

The team assured the University that their core mandate is to bring all institutions that have a stake in IP on board under the project and UHAS will not be left out.

The Local Project Coordinator further related that starting from next year the project will embark on training for various institutions to help them access patent research databases.
