Operation Smile is an international children's medical charity that provides free life-changing surgeries for children with cleft lip, cleft palate and facial abnormalities. Operation Smile believes every child with these abnormalities deserves exceptional surgical care and also believes all children deserve to be treated as if they were their own.

As part of the mission schedule, the organization with a team of medical professionals are in the Volta region, Ho from 31st March – 10th April at the Volta Regional Hospital, Ho to provide free surgery repair for children with such facial abnormalities.

In this regard, the SRC of the University of Health and Allied Sciences volunteers to support and help especially in checking of vital signs, assisting in medical procedures during surgeries and also help with their multilingual abilities to translate the local languages. The Women’s Commissioner of the SRC, Miss Diana Johnfiah who doubles as the leader of volunteers from the university stated that “we are enthused to support because the volunteers of Operation Smile are driven by one goal: taking care of children around the world and providing them with the highest quality surgical care”.  Our students would continue to work with the team of credential medical volunteers from more than 80 countries generously to donate their time, knowledge and unique skills to change children’s lives.
