The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) has organised a two-day leadership and orientation workshop for newly appointed Deans, Directors and Heads of Administration to align institutional leadership with the University's strategic vision and development agenda.
The workshop, held on August 27 and 28, 2026, at the University's Central Administration block in Ho, was led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lydia Aziato, who shared her vision for UHAS and underscored the importance of adherence to the University's mission, vision and strategic objectives. She urged the newly appointed officers to work collaboratively towards advancing the institution's growth and excellence.
A major feature of the workshop was the presentation of vision statements by the newly appointed officers, aimed at ensuring that the goals of their respective offices align with the broader vision of the University.
Addressing participants, the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Frank Edwin, encouraged the officers to pursue the University's aspiration of becoming a preeminent health education institution. He stressed the importance of innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, artificial intelligence in education and evidence-based research in achieving that goal.
The workshop also featured a presentation on leadership, relationships and team dynamics by Mr. Patrick Otieku-Baidoo, Founder and President of Spearhead Consult. He challenged participants to inspire rather than merely manage their teams and highlighted the importance of effective leadership, collaboration and personal growth.
The Registrar, Ms. Yaa Amankwaa Opuni, urged the new officers to adhere to the University's policies and procedures while promoting staff and student welfare through strong collaboration between academic and administrative leadership.
Newly appointed officers who made presentations included Professor Seth Angmorterh (Dean of School of Allied Health Sciences), Professor Cornelius Dodoo, (Dean of School of Pharmacy), Professor Peter Adatara (Dean, School of Nursing and Midwifery), Mr. Patrick De-Souza (Director, ICT), Professor Kwame Benoit Nguessan Banga (Director, Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine), Professor Judith A. Torgbor (Dean of Students) and Professor Mahamudu Ayamba Ali (Director of Quality Assurance).
The workshop formed part of UHAS' commitment to strengthening institutional leadership, fostering collaboration and positioning the University for continued growth and innovation in health education and research.
