ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCESS COURSE

 

  1. FRED N. BINKA SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH (FNBSPH)- HOHOE CAMPUS OF ALSCIENCE(SANDICH) –

 

Category A:

Candidates who hold Certificate Public Health related studies such as Environmental Health, Mental Health, Nutrition, Health Information, Community Health Nursing / Midwifery, etc. are eligible to apply.

 

Category B:

Candidates who hold Diploma in Public Health studies or Education studies but scored an CGPA below 2.0 may apply. Those who hold Diploma in closely related fields such as Statistics, Sociology, Demography, etc. are also eligible to apply.

 

Successful applicants MUST pass an examination at the end of the course to be eligible for admission to Level 200 of the Sandwich mode of the following degree programmes: 

 

  • BPH Disease Control

  • BPH Environmental Health

  • BPH Health Information 

  • BPH Health Promotion 

  • BPH Nutrition 

  • BPH Mental Health

     

 

  1. SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY (SONAM) – HO CAMPUS

     

NB: Applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years of post-graduation experience.

 

The Access Course in the School of Nursing and Midwifery is a programme which enables Auxiliary Nurses, Midwives and Community Health Nurses who hold certificates and Auxiliary Identification Number (AIN) in Post-basic Midwifery, Enrolled Nurse (EN), Nurse Assistant Clinical (NAC), Nurse Assistant Preventive (NAP)/Community Health Nursing (CHN) from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Ghana to enroll in a degree Sandwich programmes in the School. 

 

Successful applicants MUST pass an examination at the end of the course to be eligible for admission to Level 200 or 100 (depending on the applicant’s professional background and choice of programme) of the Sandwich mode of the following degree programmes: 

 

  • Bachelor of Midwifery

  • Bachelor of Nursing

  • Bachelor of Public Health Nursing

 

 

  1.  SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

 

GRADUATE ENTRY MEDICAL PROGRAMME (GEMP)E FOR THE 2026/2027 ACADEMIC YEAR

 

The GEMP Access Course is a 4-week (104 hours) course covering subjects such as Statistics, Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Immunology & Genetics, Introduction to the Human Body/Basic Anatomy, Physiology, Basic Pharmacology, Mechanisms of Disease, including Basic Pathology, leading to an Entrance Examination to be followed by a Selection Interview for shortlisted candidates. 

 

 

General Entry Requirements:

 

  1. Applicants must hold a BSc or equivalent degree in science-based programmes, including Physician Assistantship, Pharmacy, Nursing, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, Biomedical Engineering, Laboratory Sciences, Physiotherapy, Agricultural Science, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, or Radiography, etc., with a minimum GPA of 2.5

 

  1. Shortlisted applicants must submit a personal statement to the School of Medicine explaining their desire to become physicians.

 

In Addition:

Local Applicants should have also obtained a WASSCE/SSSCE (or equivalent) aggregate of 16 or better in English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science, and three (3) elective science subjects.

 

However, candidates with a GPA of 3.0 or higher may be considered regardless of their WASSCE grades, provided they took at least two general science subjects.


International Applicants must have a pass in English Language at the GCSE Ordinary level (or equivalent examination) or a score of at least 7 for the Academic International English Language Test System (IELTS). Additionally, students should not score below 6.0 in any of the modules (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).

 

Successful candidates are expected to commence the GEMP in the second semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year.
