The 12-month long internship programme, which starts on October 1, is in fulfilment of their accreditation toward being qualified as registered allied health practitioners after satisfying other requirements determined by the Board.
Mr. Farouk Alhassan (far left), Head of Education and Posting, AHPC, said since all tertiary students are mandated to also serve the nation through the National Service Scheme (NSS), the one-year internship by the allied health students will be fused with their national service to fulfil both requirements, adding that “a person may qualify for the licensure examination after successfully completing internship.” He also assured the students that the Council would liaise with the National Service Secretariat to allocate for them the right facilities that align with their programmes of study.
