A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Campbell University located in North Carolina, United States of America (USA) and the University of Health and Allied Sciences at Sokode- Lokoe near Ho. Professor Francis Bruno Zotor, Director of International Programmes recounted the past visit of a team from Campbell University to discuss areas of commonalities between the two institutions and identify areas of collaboration as well as opportunities for student and faculty exchange programmes.

On Tuesday, May 14, 2019, a team of 6 postgraduate students from Campbell University led by Professor Peter Ahiawodzi, Assistant Professor, Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences paid a second visit to UHAS in order to finalize the collaboration.

Prof. Peter Ahiawodzi stated that, the students will spend about a week at the School of Public Health – UHAS, Hohoe and collect data around Fodome and its environs. The students will also be engaged in some health promotion activities, this he noted, is in line with the mission of Campbell University which is to serve the under-served in rural areas.

He was positive that, the students will take positive memories back home and also, the team was highly impressed with what they had seen at UHAS.

Professor John Owusu Gyapong, Vice Chancellor said, UHAS is a young University with a modest environment. He said, Ghana is not like the typical western environment where funding is readily available for the development of institutions. However, UHAS is poised to stand and continue developing until it is fully established. The Vice Chancellor however bemoaned the situation whereby students of UHAS are unable to visit universities outside Ghana for exchange program opportunities due to certain circumstances. He hopes this situation will be corrected soon so as to enhance collaborations and further develop links between UHAS and other Universities in Europe, USA and others.
