Management of Fidelity Bank Ghana Limited donated two sets of Dell computers to support the UHAS-COVID-19 Testing Centre. Leader of the Fidelity Bank Ghana delegation, Mr. Daniel Appiah, said the donation was in partial fulfilment of the request the University made to their outfit, saying, “this gesture is an opportunity for a lasting relationship with the University.” Earlier in the fight against the virus, the staff at the Ho branch staff of the bank also made a donation to the centre, at which point they conveyed the University’s request to head office with a promise to do more.
Vice Chancellor Professor John Gyapong, who received the items, expressed appreciation for the donation. He however expressed concern over the apparent lack of interest of banks to open a branch at the UHAS permanent site in Sokode-Lokoe, even though the University has allocated space for a banking hall. He called on the banking sector to take advantage of the virgin market within the University structure, with a reminder that “the students are the future of the banking sector.”
Dr. Cynthia Kpeglo, Registrar, and other members of management also commended Fidelity Bank Ghana for responding to the request and honouring the promise.
