The UHAS Vocational Training (VT) Unit, under the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor, successfully completed the 2021/2022 academic year VT session. This session was deemed quite successful because the monitoring and supervision teams that conduct annual assessments of the programme, covered over 90% during their exercise and found that almost all students were present.
Ten teams conducted the monitoring and supervision exercise for Regular students from November 2, 2022 to December 5, 2022. Fred N. Binka School of Public Health (FNBSPH) started the Sandwich students monitoring and supervision exercise from January 15, 2023 to March 4, 2023 by eight teams; and the joint Sandwich monitoring for the School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS) and the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM) was conducted from February 19, 2023 to March 20, 2023 in all 16 regions of Ghana, in over 500 health facilities and research institutions. Faculty and administrators interacted with the students during monitoring.
The 2021/2022 VT Programme for Regular Undergraduate students, for all the seven Schools, started nationwide on Monday, October 10, 2022 and ended on December 16, 2022. The University placed a total of 4,950 students in all sixteen regions of Ghana for the 2021/2022 Academic Year VT Programme. Of that number, 3,534 were Regular students and 1,416 were Sandwich students from FNBSPH, SONAM and SAHS.
The FNBSPH Sandwich students started on Monday, December 12, 2022 and ended on March 4, 2023. However, their level 300s ended on February 10, 2023. The SAHS Sandwich Students from three departments (Prothesis & Orthotics, Physiotherapy, and Dietetics) did their VT for eight weeks from January 16, 2023 to March 10, 2023. The SONAM Sandwich Students in Level 100 and 200 began on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 and ended on March 20, 2023, while the Level 300 students did their Mental Health Affiliation for four weeks from January 3, 2023 to January 27, 2023 and then proceeded to the second phase of their VT for another four weeks from February 6, 2023 to March 6, 2023 at various Hospitals.
