The School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS) hosted Professor Penelope Engel-Hills from the Faculty of Health and Wellness Sciences, Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Cape Town, South Africa and Dr. Mark Okeji, from the Department of Medical Radiography and Radiological Sciences, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. As part of its efforts to internationalise its postgraduate (PG) programmes, the two faculty have been appointed as part-time lecturers to teach, examine and supervise Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students in the Department of Medical Imaging.
Professor Engel-Hills is the Dean of the Faculty of Health and Wellness Sciences, Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Cape Town, South Africa whereas Dr. Mark Okeji, is a Senior lecturer in the Department of Medical Radiography and Radiological Sciences, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. The latter is also the Registrar & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria. The board is the regulatory body that sets the standards of training and regulates the practice of radiography in Nigeria. The two faculty have been involved in the design and initiation of several undergraduate and postgraduate training programmes in radiography/radiotherapy worldwide.
During the visit, the visiting faculty paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor (VC) of UHAS, Prof. John Gyapong and other Senior Management members of the university. The VC thank them for coming and reiterated the university’s ambition to internationalise its programmes in order to attract more international faculty and students.
