For the first time, UHAS Great Giants came home with a bronze medal from the just-ended 27th Ghana University Sports Association Games, which earned them 7th place at the annual inter-university games. The medal was won in ladies’ singles tennis by Ms. Precious Nunana Okoh, a Level 200 (Sandwich) Public Health student. The UHAS team also took part in men’s soccer, men’s and women’s volleyball, table tennis, 5000-meter race, men’s discus, and women’s shotput. View photos here.
At the end of the two-week long event, University of Education Winneba (UEW) emerged as winners of the 27th GUSA Games, with 22 gold, 22 silver and 17 bronze medals, after never having won a trophy in 10 years of participation. The rest of the Universities were not ranked because they failed to win any medals. View the medal table here.
The Games were held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) from November 5 to 18, 2022 under the theme “Harnessing Sports Talents of Students for National Development through Healthy Competition using Science and Technology” and chaired by Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, Vice Chancellor of KNUST.
University of Cape Coast will host the next edition of GUSA Games.
