UHAS Vice Chancellor Professor Lydia Aziato convened a three-day Leadership Retreat, from February 8 to 10, for 50 Deans, Directors and Heads of Department of the University to follow up on goals set at the first retreat and to set new goals for 2024 and beyond.

The VC enumerated achievements since the last retreat in meeting her eight-point vision upon taking office. These include numerous promotions and strides made in the area of research. Other gains include the acquisition of a UNESCO-funded Smart Classroom and the completion of the Korea-Ghana Information Access Center; numerous donations valued at almost 1.5 million cedis, and over 135 acres in of land donated by the Dapaa Traditional Council.

In addition, 15 new MoUs have been signed under this administration, and many new postgraduate programmes have been added to the course offerings.

The VC also mentioned the priority needs and outstanding financial commitments as at this academic year, and proposed a way forward to meeting those obligations.

 

Participants followed a packed programme during which Schools, Institutes, Directorates and Offices presented their reviews of the previous year’s activities and their plans for 2024, and engaged in group discussions. They also benefitted from various topics, such as “Teaching and Learning Realities”; and “VT, Sandwich and Access Realities” on Day 1; and on Day 2, “Responsibilities of Deans, Directors and HoD’s”, “Fundraising”, and “Research Grantsmanship/Collaboration”.
