She discussed with SOP students the need to pursue excellence once they have chosen the much sought after PharmD as their programme of study, and shared her knowledge, experience and success stories about her journey as a pharmacist and professor. After that, she interacted with SOP faculty, staff and management, calling for the development of strong interest in the school’s alumni and encourage them to give back when able, for the school to maintain an enviable status in Africa and across the globe. She also advocated for the University to maintain a good relationship with the chiefs and opinion leaders who own the various lands on which the University is situated. She again recommended a strong networking between the University and other governmental and non-governmental institutions who could support the University with resources to develop infrastructure to promote teaching and research.

Prof. Dapaah Afriyie applauded the school for the remarkable performance of UHAS SOP students in their professional exams, and shared her expertise in the field of pharmacy education and made recommendations on how faculty and graduates from the school could develop themselves for effective output. She later had more in-depth discussion with the Head and Faculty of the Department of Pharmacy Practice on effective teaching and staff capacity development, and also to strengthen the link and relationship established for mutual benefit. She encouraged the Management of the University and School of Pharmacy to reach out the President of the University of Rhode Island and the Dean of the College of Pharmacy to establish a memorandum of Understanding for deeper relationship in areas of staff and students exchange and collaboration in research and graftsmanship.

Prof Ruth Dapaah Afriyie then paid a courtesy call on the Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Harry Tagbor at his office, who indicated to her that UHAS was happy to have her as guest. He recommended that she should visit more often and strengthen the relationship that has begun with the University and School of Pharmacy.
