The 2020/2021 SRC administration of UHAS has embarked on a free distribution of 80-leaflet spiral notebooks to all UHAS students, including sandwich students. Over 80% of the students have received the SRC branded notebooks since 13 March when distribution started. The SRC also gave copies of the souvenirs to some offices of the University Management.
The current SRC administration increased the annual SRC dues from fifty Ghana cedis (GHS 50.00) to one hundred Ghana cedis (GHS 100.00) per student, in a bid to raise funds to purchase a brand new 33-seater Toyota Coaster Bus. Plans are far advanced to achieve this feat, according to SRC President, Mr. Felix Apaloo.
Mr. Apaloo explained that this souvenir giveaway is a way to show appreciation for the dues students pay. He said, “Our students complain that this SRC does not give them free souvenirs as is done in other universities. For instance, the students cited an example using the SRC cloth, which is sold to them at twenty five Ghana cedis (GHS 25.00) per yard even though it was their dues that were used to procure the cloth.”
He said students who have not yet received their notebooks should stop by the SRC office to get their copies.
