PROFILE OF DR NANA OWUSU-AFARI
Dr Nana Owusu- Afari is the Nkosuohene of the Worawora Traditional area in the Volta Region, an Industrialist and entrepreneur. He is a trained teacher, and holds a BSc Economics degree from University of Ghana. He has a Doctoral Degree from the Atlantic International University, USA; and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors of U.K. Nana has a certificate from the Ashridge Management College.
He is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Afariwaa Group of Companies comprising Rice milling, Real Estate Development, Veterinary Pharmaceutical Production, Hotels and Banking. Prior to that he worked at Lever Brothers, Ghana Ltd. (now Unilever).
Nana has served as a member of the Ministerial Advisory Boards of the Ministries of Finance, Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs, and a current member of the Board of Trustees of the Centre for Regional Integration in Africa (CRIA).
Nana Owusu-Afari is the immediate Past President of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), past Chairman of the Ghana National Council on Poultry, Past President of the Ghana Animal Science Association and Past President of the Rotary Club of Accra West. He was also a Member of the Governing Council of the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and a former Commissioner of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) representing the Volta Region.
