Postgraduate Entry Requirements & Guidelines

MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (M.Phil.) IN APPLIED EPIDEMIOLOGY (REGULAR) (Ghanaian and International)

The MPhil in Applied Epidemiology is a 2-year (24 months) full time programme. The programme consists of a combination of didactic lectures and field placement activities.

Entry Requirements

To be admitted into the MPhil Programme, a candidate must:

• Have a good first degree with a minimum of second-class lower division (CGPA of 2.5 or more) in a relevant health / health-related field.

• Have a minimum of three (3) years of relevant working experience (advantage).

• Have a background or demonstrated interest in Public Health.

• Submit a curriculum vitae (cv).

• Pass an entrance interview.

• Submit a 500-word concept note on a chosen area of interest.

• Submit Two reference letters from professional and/or academic referees

Duration of programme: 24 months.

* Subject to an adequate number of students selecting the option.

* Applicants shall select three options in order of preference.

Entry Requirements

To be admitted into the MPH Programme, a candidate must:

• Have a good first degree with minimum of second-class lower division (CGPA of 2.5 or better) from an accredited university.

• Have a relevant working experience in the health sector as this will be an advantage. Candidates with high Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) but limited post-qualification experience can apply.

• Submit a curriculum vitae.

• Pass an entrance interview.

• Submit a 500-word concept note on their chosen area of interest.

• Ghanaian and International applicants are eligible to apply

Admission Choices:

• Regular (Monday – Thursday)

• Weekend (Friday – Sunday)

Mode of delivery and duration:

• Blended (face-to-face & online), full-time 12-month programme 

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PHD IN PUBLIC HEALTH) – FULL-TIME (Ghanaian and International)

Entry Requirements:

To be admitted into the PhD in Public Health Programme, a candidate must:

• Hold a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), Master of Public Health, or other master’s degree in medical/health sciences r equivalent degrees in a relevant field from an accredited institution.

• Submit two reference letters from professional and/academic referees.

• Pass an entrance interview.

• Pass an onsite test that includes writing a 700-word essay on a topic of public health interest.

• Applicants are advised to visit the school’s portal on the university website to identify and make preliminary contacts with prospective thesis supervisors.

Duration of the Programme: Three years (Full-time)
