UHAS Matriculates 753 Sandwich Freshers

The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) matriculated 753 Sandwich undergraduate students for the 2023/2024 Academic Year. The exercise took place on August 31, 2024, in two (2) concurrent ceremonies at both Ho and Hohoe campuses. The new students comprised 53 for the School of Allied Health Sciences, 513 for the School of Nursing and Midwifery and 187 for the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health.

During the ceremony at the Main Campus, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lydia Aziato commended the students for selecting UHAS as their University of choice to further their studies and emphasized the University's commitment to providing quality education, advancing knowledge through research, and improving healthcare services.

She encouraged the freshers to embrace innovation, acquire relevant technological skills and uphold the values of excellence, integrity and service in their academic and professional journey. Professor Aziato also urged the students to maintain a good environment and adhere to the University policies and guidelines. 

Ms. Cecilia Afi Gadese, speaking on behalf of her fellow freshers, highlighted the call to serve humanity in the healthcare profession and emphasized the importance of continuous learning and dedication.

Present at the ceremony were the Registrar, Ms. Yaa Amankwaa Opuni, Deans, Directors, Faculty and Staff of the University.

Mr. Razak Sarkodie spoke on behalf of the freshers at Hohoe campus. He appreciated UHAS for offering them the opportunity to further their education and urged his colleagues to make the best out of the opportunity despite the existence of a number of challenges like inadequate hostel accommodation, transportation to and from campus, among others.

The matriculation ceremony for the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health, Hohoe was officiated by a delegation of senior members led by Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Frank Edwin who also emphasized that the University Management would take steps to address the challenges facing students.
