Office of International Programmes
The Office of International Programmes (OIP) was established in 2015, approximately four years after the establishment of the University of Health and Allied Sciences. The Office was created in response to the thinking, and justifiably so, that globalization and international collaborations should be seen as pivots in augmenting the higher education enterprise in the 21st century. Indeed, this thinking has proved valuable, for UHAS has immensely benefited from the international collaborations it has forged during the period.
In line with its mandate, OIP coordinates, facilitates and manages activities related to all international students who have enrolled in UHAS, as well as faculty members and other senior members who are not Ghanaians. OIP has therefore, come to serve as an important organ of UHAS, bridging the gap between the University and the international community.
The Office of International Programmes at UHAS wishes you a hearty welcome. Situated in Ghana's beautiful Volta Region, UHAS is the only public university in Ghana solely focused on training health professionals and practitioners to meet the health needs of people both locally and globally.
OIP coordinates the affairs of our international clients — students, faculty, researchers, partners and projects. We stand as the face of the University in assisting you professionally and ethically by liaising between UHAS and our foreign clients.
For our local clients seeking prospects outside Ghana, we can provide you with all the necessary information on appropriate international destinations and opportunities. Your wellbeing and success are as important to us as they are to you. Be assured that we will support you on your way through!
For our international clients already with us, enjoy your stay in our beautiful homeland Ghana.
We look forward to working with prospective clients with the assurance that Ghana will be a beautiful home away from home.
The Office of International Programmes is headed by a Dean of International Programmes, who is supported administratively by Assistant Registrars, with lower-level support staff who assist with the day-to-day running of the office. OIP has a Standing Advisory Committee that is responsible for providing strategic direction on matters pertaining to international programmes and related endeavours. Ad hoc sub-committees are also constituted as and when necessary to execute specific tasks as assigned by OIP in consultation with the Vice Chancellor.

The International Programmes Advisory Committee, set up by the University, meets regularly to discuss programmes and activities pertaining to the Office and to advise UHAS Management accordingly. Members of the Committee are:

Most universities abroad have a mandatory fieldwork or lab investigation component of their programmes. UHAS has become the preferred institution for most students from the Cameroon, Canada, Nigeria, UK, and U.S.A. to gain first-hand, practical experience of what they study in the classroom. These students stay for two to 12 weeks. Our faculty, with their rich and varied experiences, supervise these students and grade them at the end of their research. The output of their research is mostly expected to lead to publication.
In a globally competitive world, the value of international faculty in higher education institutions cannot be underrated. They tend to bring diversity and infuse a vast amount of experiences from other contexts. UHAS is greatly committed to developing its students to be the best they can be. With the presence of international faculty, students will get the opportunity to learn from diverse perspectives.
