Mr. Julian Opuni, Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, noted that the bank has had a longstanding relationship with UHAS over the years, and Fidelity is privileged to partner with the university in its next step of growth. He was full of praise for the leadership and staff of UHAS for the construction of a basic school and acknowledged that the quality of the work was “high.”

He also used the occasion to express the bank’s congratulations to the new leadership of UHAS, and pledged the bank’s readiness to “explore our international partnerships that will initiate fruitful discussions on many of the developmental needs of the university.”

Professor Lydia Aziato, Vice Chancellor, expressed gratitude for the gesture and recommended that Fidelity Bank adopt the UHAS Basic School as its flagship school. She made special mention of her predecessor, Professor John O. Gyapong, for initiating the request for ICT assistance. She catalogued a few immediate challenges confronting the UHAS Basic School and indicated the University’s readiness for partnership with Fidelity Bank and its allied business investors in the areas of infrastructural development. The Vice Chancellor articulated, “UHAS is ready for more public-private partnerships in many areas of its developmental needs.”

Madam Yaa Amankwaa Opuni, Registrar, expressed on behalf of the University Council, management and staff, the University’s profound gratitude to the Bank, represented by the Managing Director and his delegation, for supporting the ICT Laboratory of the Basic School with computer equipment to enhance the teaching and learning of ICT education. She recounted the previous collaborations between UHAS and Fidelity Bank and prayed for more of such that would yield mutual benefit for the two institutions.

The Basic School’s Choreography and Poetry clubs delighted the audience with a spectacular performance. The ceremony was witnessed by the leadership, staff, and a section of learners. Some deans, directors and staff of the university were also present.
