Phase II Commissioning and Conferment of an Honorary Degree on President Akuffo Addo

The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) on Monday July 29, 2024 conferred on the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo an honorary Doctorate Degree at a Special Congregation Ceremony. 

In his welcome address, the Chairman of the University Council, Justice Victor J.M. Dotse recounted about 6 visits of the President to the University during his tenure. He commended his "personal interest and dedication to the affairs of UHAS."

Justice Victor J.M. Dotse also appreciated the collaboration between the government of Ghana and the People's Republic of China in expanding infrastructure in UHAS. He also acknowledged "past government's dedication to make UHAS a center of excellence".

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Lydia Aziato in her State of the University Report stated that the government of "Ghana made available ¢6.2 million counterpart funding for the preliminary works to cover the extension of electricity, municipal water supply, construction of storm and waste drains and all ancillary services required for the China Phase II project implementation. A second phase of the counterpart funding to complete the initial phase of the project was executed using the University's IGF of ¢5.2 million. 

The Vice Chancellor appreciated the President for his presence at the Sod Cutting ceremony for the China Phase II Project on September 10, 2021 and his subsequent interest in the development and expansion of the University.
