The Finance Directorate is an integral segment of the University of Health and Allied Sciences. Its core mandate includes the following:
To assess, monitor, plan and manage the efficient utilization of cash and the provision of financial services in a manner that is consistent with the Acts regulating public funds in the country. The objectives of the Directorate fall within the regulatory framework of the University.
To account for, and manage the accounting and financial records in accordance with national and international financial reporting standards.
To provide support for the academic mandate of the University such as financial reports and financial sustainability reports for accreditation of academic programmes.
To mobilize, disburse, and account for the University’s funds.
To ensure compliance with financial and other laws and regulations.
To maintain proper accounting records and prepare periodic Financial Statements.
To provide financial information to stakeholders and ensure periodic auditing of the Financial Statements.
Mr. James Abrah
Director of Finance
James is a seasoned Chartered Accountant, a Certified Money Coach, Finance Professional with over 24 years’ work experience in corporate finance and accountancy practice. His experience cuts across investment banking, telecom infrastructure development finance, tertiary education management, commodities trading, cocoa industry amidst consulting, risk management, compliance and assurance and internal auditing.
Currently serving as Director of Finance at University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) , He has held various managerial positions such as Director of Finance of Korle-bu Teaching Hospital, Director of Finance of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Chief Internal Auditor, NTHC Ghana Limited, Acting General Manager, NTHC Commodities, Director of Finance, The Institute of Chartered-Ghana, Lead Consultant AATMAC Consult, General Manager, Liberty Commodities, Regional Finance Director, Reime West Africa, and Deputy Director of Audit, Central University College.
He takes special interest in financial education with a mission to help people of all walks of life His interest is to help people unform, reform and transform their financial habits and improve their financial health.
His is the founder of Sikacoach Ghana, a company dedicated to promote financial literacy for all. He is married with three children.
