
Professor Lydia Aziato is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), and a highly respected nurse, academic, and health education leader in Ghana and beyond. She is the first nurse to hold the position of Vice-Chancellor at a public university in Ghana, bringing to the role a wealth of experience in clinical practice, academic leadership, and research in nursing and oncology care. Prof. Aziato holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa, and has received advanced clinical and academic training from institutions including the University of Ghana and the University of Southampton, UK.
Prior to her appointment as Vice-Chancellor, she served as the Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Ghana, where she played a pivotal role in advancing nursing education and mentoring the next generation of health professionals. Her research focuses on cancer care, pain management, and health systems strengthening, and she has published widely in reputable international journals. Prof. Aziato is a member of various professional and academic bodies and has served on several national and international committees in health and higher education. Her leadership as Vice-Chancellor and member of the UHAS Governing Council underscores her unwavering commitment to excellence in health sciences education, research, and service delivery in Ghana.
