
Prof. Fred Newton Binka is a distinguished public health physician, epidemiologist, and the founding Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho. With decades of leadership in global health, academic research, and institutional development, he has made significant contributions to public health education and malaria research across Africa. Prof. Binka holds a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) from the University of Basel, Switzerland, and has held senior academic and advisory positions with institutions such as the University of Ghana, the Ghana Health Service, and the World Health Organization. He is internationally recognised for his pioneering work in malaria vaccine trials and disease surveillance systems, and has published extensively in leading peer-reviewed journals. As a former Executive Director of the INDEPTH Network, Prof. Binka was instrumental in establishing a robust platform for population and health research in low- and middle-income countries.
