
Dr. Edmund Nibeneeh Aalangdong is a highly accomplished development planner, education policy expert, and governance specialist with over 15 years of experience in tertiary education management, social development, and local governance. He currently serves as Deputy Director in charge of Policy and Planning at the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), where he leads the development of regulatory frameworks, strategic plans, and policy innovations in Ghana’s tertiary education sector.
Dr. Aalangdong holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Ghana and an MSc in Development Policy and Planning from KNUST. He has coordinated major international education projects, including the World Bank Africa Centres of Excellence (ACE Impact) and the IFC Employability Tool Project. He serves as Ghana’s National Focal Point for the ACE Impact initiative and donor-funded projects targeted at tertiary institutions.
In addition to his public sector leadership, Dr. Aalangdong is a seasoned researcher and consultant, having worked with organisations such as UNDP, ActionAid, the Institute of Local Government Studies, and TrustAfrica. His research interests span educational technology, online and blended learning, policy monitoring and evaluation, and participatory governance. He is also affiliated as a Research Associate at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and serves as the Head of Research at the Education Sub-Saharan Africa (ACSL Project).
Dr. Aalangdong is a member of the Ghana Institute of Planners (GIP) and the Ghana Monitoring and Evaluation Forum (GMEF), and has made significant contributions to national policy discourse through ministerial committees and tertiary education reform initiatives.
